Tricomin Overview

Developed by ProCyte Corporation, Tricomin is a topically applied product containing what the manufacturer describes as Triamino Copper Nutritional Complex™. Tricomin started as a wound-healing compound when researchers found that animals treated with the copper peptide had their hair growth stimulated. The value of this product relates to the hair follicles nutritional needs for copper and the relationship of copper with DHT. The presence of copper has been shown to inhibit 5-alpha reductase, which is responsible for the formation of DHT leading to hair loss. This relationship is particularly important when you consider that copper levels in hair follicles are normally high in younger people and naturally reduce with age. Tricomin’s copper complex, which is targeted to the base of the follicle, has also been shown to stimulate the production of collagen and various proteins, substances that are critical during the growth phase. Tricomin has the effect of shortening the resting phase of the hair follicle allowing them to be more active, thus producing hair. Other compounds in Tricomin, such as panthenol aid in the structural quality of hair.

Is Tricomin Safe?

This product is safe for men and women with no known side effects. The product has been released as a cosmetic and is not FDA approved as a hair growth product.

How to use Tricomin

The main product is Tricomin Solution Follicle Therapy Spray, a blue liquid containing the highest concentration of copper peptide. This product works well by itself when used twice daily after shampooing. The main benefit with this treatment is on fine or thinning hair. However, Tricomin works best as a nutritional complement to other therapies like Propecia or Rogaine. Other product lines are available including a Tricomin Revitalizing Shampoo, Tricomin Conditioning Shampoo, Tricomin Restructuring Conditioner and Tricomin Deep Conditioning Treatment. These products do contain small amounts of copper peptide but not at the level recommended in the Therapy Spray. Tricomin Therapy Spray can be applied to damp or dry hair. As with all hair loss products, continued use is recommended to maintain results.

Tricomin Results

Tricomin was initially tested as a hair growth compound, and in the early-stage Phase II FDA clinical studies the product showed good results. On some of the 36 male subjects very positive results occurred when Tricomin was applied topically twice a day for 24 weeks. Due to the fact that Tricomin was not taken to the next level of Phase III FDA testing the company is unable to make claims that the product regrows hair. Tricomin is considered a nutritional factor that can improve the environment in which hair follicles grow.
