Provillus Overview

Provillus is sold as a nutritional supplement in tablet form. The FDA does not have an approval process for nutritional supplements, however all of the ingredients in this product are reported to meet FDA's GRAS safety requirements. Preliminary studies indicate that Provillus is effective for the majority, but not all, of men suffering from androgenetic alopecia (male pattern baldness), the most common cause of hair loss. Provillus is also available for women.

Like many products today, the natural approach is gaining favor with medical professionals. Provillus contains a list of all-natural herbal, vitamin, and mineral DHT inhibitors. One of these compounds is 1500 mg of Saw Palmetto extract, which is widely considered effective in reducing DHT levels. As a nutritional supplement Provillus provides the scalp capsicum, amino acids, and essential minerals to prevent Nutrient Deficient Follicles (NDF), the 3rd leading cause of premature hair loss. Proper nutrition allows dormant follicles to start reproducing healthy hair.

Is Provillus Safe?

As Provillus was produced as a DHT blocker and is considered more effective with men. The product is believed to be free of any significant side effects. However a small percentage of users have experienced mild stomach discomfort during the first few days of use. Taking Provillus with food should correct this problem. There are no other known side effects from taking Provillus.

How to use Provillus

Provillus comes in a convenient tablet form which is taken daily (2 tablets), preferably with food. The tablets for men contain different compounds than those developed for women. Provillus is an all-natural supplement available without a prescription. While there are several causes of hair loss, Provillus is effective in reversing hair loss caused by androgenetic alopecia, the most common cause of hair loss.

Provillus Results

In Men: Those who can benefit most from using Provillus are young men between 18 and 40 years of age. Men of this age have hair in the growth phase, as a result of taking Provillus they will experience an increase in hair count and improvement in both their hairline and thickening at the crown of the their head. Because hair grows quite slowly, results should not be expected for at least 1 to 2 months. Some users have reported results in 2 weeks while others have not seen any significant improvement until the third month.

Compared to Rogaine and Propecia, Provillus is expected to give a faster response. Provillus is most effective with men who’s hair is still growing. As men age the rate of hair loss can progress more rapidly than the natural growth cycle. In these situations the retention of hair is the priority.

In Women: Women should not expect the same results as men when using Provillus. The reason is that men produce much higher levels of androgen testosterone that the body converts to DHT, the main culprit in male pattern baldness (MPB). Women produce lower levels of testosterone which is the reason they don't see the extensive hair loss experienced by men. However, female pattern baldness is estimated to affect 1 out of every 4 women in the United States with a range from as low as 8% to as high as 87%. Menopause is most common time for female pattern baldness to occur.

In the conversion of testosterone to DHT, the process requires the production of an enzyme called 5-alpha reductase. To their benefit, women have only ½ the amount of this enzyme overall compared to men and even less on the crown. In addition, women produce an enzyme called aromatase in all areas of the scalp which may block the formation of DHT. The frontal hairline in women contains higher concentrations of aromatase which may explain why women are more resistant to balding in this area.

For both men and women, Provillus will not help individuals whose hair loss is a result of chemotherapy, scalp trauma, androgenetic areata, or other non-DHT related causes.
