Take Care of Your Hair

Prevent Hair Loss

Eating a properly balanced and healthy diet is important for many reasons, including the health of your hair. Treat your hair gently, many doctors recommend using a baby shampoo, lathering gently and shampooing no more than once a day. When drying your hair, be gentle, don’t rub your scalp vigorously with a towel. Brushing and massaging the scalp does not help regrow hair and any attempt to ‘unclog’ hair follicles with excessive cleaning will cause even more damage. When styling you may want to consider putting away your blow dryer, or at least using the low heat setting. Don’t style your hair when it is wet, this can cause stretching and breaking. Instead style your hair when it’s dry or damp.

Teasing hair, coloring hair and the use of hair straighteners can all be damaging and should be avoided when possible. Wearing hats, contrary to popular belief, does not cause balding.
