Normal Hair Loss

Some hair loss is normal, but when is it too much?

Typically people will lose 50 to 150 scalp hairs every day, this is considered normal. In fact you can lose up to 40% of the density of your scalp hair before thinning is even noticeable.

Hair loss is not only the plight of older people, it can happen at a younger age. Androgenetic alopecia (pattern baldness), is a condition where hair loss occurs at an abnormally high rate; alternatively hair replacement occurs at an abnormally slow rate. With this condition normal hairs are often replaced by thinner, shorter ones.
